Semaphorin4D Association with Poor Prognosis and M2 Macrophage Differentiation in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

چکیده
Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the leading killer among all gynecological malignancies (Siegel et al., 2012). Over 70% of EOC patients present with late stage diseases and dissemination of tumor implants throughout the peritoneal cavity (Bast et al., 2009). Ascites is one of the most common and distressing complications associated with EOC, especially for advanced stage diseases (Auersperg et al., 2002). Different from stroma surrounding solid tumors, ascites constitute a unique form of tumor microenvironment. Recent evidences suggested that ascites of EOC play a positive role on cancer peritoneal dissection and metastasis owing to containing plenty of growth factors, cytokines, extracellular matrix constituents, and cancer-promoting immunocytes, especially tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), which

Overexpression of Semaphorin4D indicates poor prognosis and prompts monocyte differentiation toward M2 macrophages in epithelial ovarian cancer.
Previously, we demonstrated overexpression of semaphorin4D (SEMA4D, CD100) to be closely related to tumor angiogenesis in epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs). However, the function and expression of SEMA4D in the EOC microenvironment has yet to be clarified in detail. In this study, we confirmed that overexpression of SEMA4D in primary tumors and ascites was related to low differentiation, platin...

Semaphorin4D (SEMA4D) has been regarded as an important protein in tumor angiogenesis, though originally identified in neurodevelopment. SEMA4D is extensively expressed in several malignant solid tumors. Nevertheless, the function and expression of SEMA4D in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is as yet not well understood. The aim of this study was to investigate SEMA4D expression in EOC and evalu...
متن کامل[Prognostic significance of tumor-associated macrophage infiltration in advanced epithelial ovarian carcinoma].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) infiltration promotes the progression of various malignancies. This study was to investigate the influence of TAM infiltration on the survival and prognosis of patients with ovarian cancer. METHODS The expression of CD68, a TAM-specific marker, in 67 specimens of ovarian cancer and 22 specimens of benign ovarian lesion was detected by...

Background: Given that ovarian cancer symptoms are nonspecific and that appropriate surgical staging and pathological grading are important for the best treatment and prognosis of patients, this study aimed to determine the correlation of preoperative serum levels of CA125 and He4 with staging and grading. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 29 patients with epithelial...

Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death in female reproductive system diseases which threaten women’s health worldwide. While in early stage the patient merely complain pelvic uncomfortable and ignore them in crisis. Thus though we have revealed obvious development in surgical techniques and imaging method, we fail to make diagnosis in early stage and take intervention timely. On the other...
